At about this time, over two thousand years ago, the Jews formulated a lie that Jesus did not resurrect; but rather, His disciples stole his body just to discredit His person and ministry.
” For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.” 2Cor.13:8.
There is no antidote for the truth. It will always speak for itself. Truth is like a balloon, it cannot be suppressed in the sea of deceit. It will always resurface after the liars have done their bit.
Truth needs no curative for it is medicine in itself. You don’t use medicine to cure medicine. Rather, you need medicine to cure an ailment. Lies have been man’s ailment since the time Adam ate the fruit of deceit; and the only thing that can cure it is the truth.
As we mark this Easter period, let’s eschew lies and embrace the truth. Jesus said: “… I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6.
You can’t live a lie, tell a lie, be affianced to lies and liars, and still claim allegiance to Jesus, who is truth personified. Many people won’t make heaven on that day, not because they did not go to Church, or serve God; but because their lives was incongruent with the truth. “But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.” Luke 13:27.
The truth and reconciliation commission set up by sane societies is saddled with the purpose of bringing peace among warring or aggrieved parties. The basis for realizing their objective is truth, confession. This mirrors God’s way of reconciling man back to Himself, because man has been at loggerheads with God since Eden; always antagonizing and disobeying God.
” For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.” Ephesians 2:14-16.
Reconciliation between God and man is impossible without the truth. In confession, you tell the truth about yourself and about the person of Jesus. Failure to confess your faults takes you farther away from the path of salvation. To merely confess one’s status as a sinner and reject God’s remedy (that is, the person and sacrificial death of Jesus as our Saviour) does not bring salvation. You have to confess your sins, tell the truth about yourself, and acknowledge God’s truth about His Son Jesus before you can be saved.
” He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Pro. 28:13.
” That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10.
Confess and repent today.
