The youths who turned out en-masse were frustrated following the transfer of polling units, hence causing the inability to locate their polling units.

Some voters at polling units in Asaba, Okpanam, Ibusa, Issele-Uku, Ogwashi-Uku lamented the delay in the commencement of the election.

The voters, who spoke with our correspondent expressed worry that the election officials, who were already behind schedule were yet to begin the preliminary processes that would precede the voting exercise.

A voter, who identified himself as ABC at the Ahabam primary school RAC center, said that the delayed arrival of the election materials has become a cause for concern.

“All the boxes and other election materials have been at this center since Friday night but it is unfortunate that at 9:30, the materials are yet to be moved to other polling units.
.
“Whether rains or not we must cast our vote, our units have transferred without letting us know. We will continue searching for the location of our units until we voted,” he said.

At the Uzoigwa primary RAC center, Asaba, the election materials were yet to be distributed to various units as of 10:am but INEC officials were seen on the ground sorting the materials of various units.

At ward 9, unit 3, Okpanam, in Oshimili North Local Government Area, there was an issue with the functionality of BIVAS at the commencement of the election.

One of the INEC officials said, “We are having a minor issue with the BIVAS but we will sort it out. It is a minor issue.”

A voter in that ward, Mr. Donatus Alabike said, “There is some issue with BIVAS. The BIVAS only recognized the alphabet from A-N and didn’t recognise 0-Z.

“So, only those from A-N are casting their vote now. Like me, I have voted because my name falls into the category.”

Meanwhile, voters, many of them who were youths, vowed to make a real change with their PVCs and were eager to cast their votes despite the rain that started around 11:30.

The Peoples Democratic Party vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, who cast his vote around 10:am, was optimistic that PDP will win the election.

Okowa who spoke shortly after voting at ward 2, unit 17, in Ika North-East local government area of Delta thanked God for the peaceful conduct of the election.

He also commended the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), for ensuring fairness in the election.
