Our blessed region of Okeogun with unique natural physical characteristics and human resources is worth studying like a course in the university, but I doubt if the student will graduate on time.
Reason for this assertion was that of our uniqueness and penchant for leaving what’s relevant and concentrating on irrelevant. The phenomenon could be likened to the Yoruba proverbs Egbinrin ote, bi a se npakan, lokan nyoju meaning a strange occurrences,as we settle a duel another one surfaces!
The political situation in Nigeria is now at it’s peak. The global investors and business owners are keenly studying the ongoing politicking in the country, analysing and strategizing on what steps to be taking to harvesting economic benefits of Tinubu or Atiku presidency. The future of the economy and what and what to do to benefit their lots.
In the same vein, serious geopolitical zones like ours are discussing how to consolidate their hold on power in the state, as in the thinking of Ibadan people, Ibarapa people lamenting and planning to boldly prepare to get power even if it’s deputy governor as they are jealous of us on that useless office. The Ogbomoso are on top of retaining the control of our senatorial zone leadership and Oyo Zone are preparing for producing the next governor as their target.
With all these and many more going on, our Okeogun platforms are busy sharing and discussing Yoruba nation, Owo ISWAP attack and Fulani killings. Right in our face, our son was used to deny our highly qualified son, the opportunity to contest on going gubernatorial election despite his having both the qualifications and the reach out at national level, we cut his ambition short by accepting party Chairmanship of both major political parties.
Yoruba says “agba kiiwa loja, kori omo tuntun wo, our elders, the ODCF and traditional council remains unperturbed up till now. The choice of senatorial candidates for Oyo North goes to Ogbomoso without a word from our elders. Their only response with these myriad of issues begging for attention was to issue a statement of security threat at Ikere Gorge Dam! What a pity!
I am not condemning our attention to safety and security but there are many important statements we expected our leaders in Okeogun to issue at this critical moment, than Ikere Gorge Dam security!
We must be proactive and in tune with the globalization and contemporaries national burning issues than all these petty things. Day by day, our people are becoming too reclusive, repugnant and inconsequential in the affairs of the state and in dealing with contemporary issues needing urgent attentions. We need to wake up. Okeogun must excel.
