APGA won’t be distracted by destabilisation plot – Chairman

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Victor Oye, has called on security agencies to arrest and prosecute Edozie Njoku, who last week declared himself the chairman of the party.

This was as Oye said Njoku would not be allowed to destroy a house he (Njoku) played no part in building.

Recall that Njoku on Tuesday called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise him as the authentic national chairman of the party.

Njoku had last week stated that the letter from retired Justice Mary Odili clarifying that Oye’s name was erroneously written and mentioned as the chairman of the party instead of his, invalidated allegations that he (Njoku) forged Supreme Court’s judgment for personal gains.

Njoku had also appealed to Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State and other members of the party to intervene and unite APGA ahead of 2023 general elections.

Addressing newsmen on Friday, Oye said Njoku was never a party to the suit he was relying on to become the party’s chairman.

“Some people are working hard to destabilise APGA. Their plan is to ensure that we don’t focus on winning next year’s elections. But we will not be distracted.

“We have set all the machinery in place to deliver our candidates at every level. Nigerians are hungry, poor and getting killed. We want to provide the help. That’s our focus,” he said.

Oye said APGA was ready to release the list of the Presidential Campaign Council consisting of 2,150 members.

According to him, the presidential candidate of the party, Prof Peter Umeadi, will unveil members of his campaign council.

He said, “We are ready with our campaign council; the list is ready. In the last count, we had about 2,150 members of the campaign council, excluding members from each state of the federation that will constitute the various states campaign councils of the party.

“Very soon, our presidential candidate will unveil the membership of his campaign council and our operation for the election 2023 will come into full swing.”
