Also, she appreciated the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), and Nigerians for finding her worthy of a second national honour.

On October 1, 2022, Okonjo-Iweala wrote on Twitter, “Happy Independence Day to Nigerians! Times are difficult but let’s give thanks for another year for Nigeria. (I am) grateful to His Excellency, Mr President, and to Nigerians for the recognition through the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) award, the second highest national honours of the land. Congrats to all national awardees.”

On his part, the President of the African Development Bank Group, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, said that he was optimistic that the country would shine again. On Twitter, he posted a picture of himself wearing a black suit and a green bow tie, with the caption, “Happy 62nd Independence anniversary to Nigeria and Nigerians. Nigeria will arise and shine! It shall be well with Nigeria.”

Also, Toyin, the wife of a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in her Independence Day message, urged the people to renew their vision with hopes for the country.

She wrote on Instagram, “Let’s renew our vision with replenished hopes and prayers for Nigeria, the most populous nation in the continent of Africa’s extraordinary diversity and unity race, in religion and in social and economic development.”
