Mosogar monarch, HRM Oduaka 1 gets staff of office

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has presented staff of office to the Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state, HRM Sunday Okpurhe, Uduaka 1, following the demise of the last king.

The new monarch, HRM Uduaka 1 is a retired Assistant Comptroller General of Customs.

Okowa who was represented by his deputy, Mr Kingsley Otuaro, charged the new monarch to uphold the sanctity of the position to promote the integrity of the stool.

He said: “I have no doubt in my mind that the institution of the kingdom has great significance on the people of Mosogar Kingdom and as such, you will strive to promote the integrity of the stool by bestowing  your royal majesty the respect he truly deserves.

“I urge you all to give him (the new king) the fullest support, love and cooperation. The Ovie is one of you. I, therefore, call on every son and daughter of Mosogar Kingdom to work together with the Ovie to have a sustainable peace and progress of the kingdom.

“The respect he gets from outsiders is seen from the one you give him at home. Please do not relent in giving the royal majesty all the hallmarks he truly deserves.”

He urged the monarch to discharge his responsibility by being fair and just to all, adding that as a king, “he is the father of all.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the Otota (Traditional Prime Minister) of Mosogar Kingdom, Chief Ighoyota Amori, said the kingdom has continued to witness development.

Appreciating the dignitaries for their presence, Amori thanked Governor Okowa and his deputy, Mr Otuaro for their benevolence towards the kingdom.

He added that they have touched their lives in various ways.

The event was attended by several traditional rulers across the state, including HRM Orhue 1 Major General Felix Mujakperuo, the Orodje of Okpe;Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Monday Whiskey, Udurhie I; the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesy, Michael Omeru, Ogurimerime, Ukori I; Ovie of Oghara Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Noble Eshemitan, Uku Oghara N’ame, Orefe III, and a host of others.
