2023: PDP OYO NORTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT CONSOLIDATES FOR MAKINDE .
All major stakeholders in the Oyo North Senatorial District Rose from their maiden meeting held last Thursday at Iseyin Town Hall, with a pledge to deliver the whole of the thirteen local governments to the Governor come 2033.
According to the communique signed by Alhaji Lateef Komi, the meeting which was the first since after the last general elections became very important in view of the latest, and uncommon action of Governor MAKINDE who officially transferred his executive powers to the Deputy Governor- Barr.Abd-Raheem Adeleke Bayo Lawal while proceeding on his vacation, who incidentally is from the zone, this demonstration of absolute trust in one of them should therefore be reciprocated through their renewed commitment towards ensuring second term victory for the Governor and the Deputy who is also his running mate in the approaching election.
The meeting which was presided over by the Senatorial Chairman, Alh Yunus Yusuf, was well attended by PDP members from all the thirteen Local Government Councils within the district with
notable politicians in attendance, amongst whom are:
The Acting Governor- Barr. Abud-Raheem Adeleke Bayo Lawal, Chief of Staff to the governor, Chief Ogunwuyi,
Hon Niyi Adebisi, Alhaja Fausat Joke, Chief Abiodun Oni, Hon Siju Salami, former Deputy Gov. Eng Hamid Gbadamosi, Former Chief of Staff -Sen Saka Balogun, Sen Gbenga Babalola, Alh Kumi Mustafa, Barr. Farinto, Chief Jacob Adetoro, Hon Rasaki Gbadegesin, Chief M Adegbite, Eng Najeemdeen Omirinde, Hon Rafiu Adekunle ( former minority leader), Alh Ganiyu Alaka, Hon Mudasiru Busari, Hon Joel Makanjuola, Hon John Oke and the Senatorial District Candidate -Hon Akinwole Akinwale , all Party Chairmen in the district and many others .
The meeting specifically resolved as follows :
“(1) That in unity lies our strength and pivot to maintain our Party leading the governance of the State. Therefore nothing should be too big to be sacrificed for this objective.
(2) That in view of the various government projects, provisions of infrastructures and development that are spreading all over the district more than any other previous political dispensations, the district is fully committed and challenged to display appreciation through wining at all levels of the coming general elections on a land slide scale of votes delivery to PDP. in the 13 Local Council Areas.
, (3) The meeting noted with deep sense of appreciation the epoch steps and the actions of Gov Seyi Makinde, in the recent times, by a way of appointing our son as his running mate, then as a sitting Deputy Gov. and transmitting power of the governor to his Deputy Gov. while he is on vacation. To us this is novel in the political history of Oyo State, indeed in Oyo as a region. Therefore, to whom much is given, we are more resolute to the desire of nurturing to fruition, the second term bid of His Excellency Eng Seyi Makinde and His Deputy Barr Bayo Lawal.
(4) The meeting resolved to adopt the plead of His Excellency Bayo Lawal to amicably reconcile all misgivings within the party with equanimity, therefore, the meeting posit to set up a committee to midwife the reconciliation soonest, which will be under the supervision of the Acting Governor.
(5) The senatorial party officers were encouraged by the meeting, to reach out to notable party members for the subsequent meetings via effective delivery of notice of meeting, while all members were admonished to take serious the need to attend and pay due support to party activities at all levels.”
