The operations led to the recovery of significant weaponry, including 3 GPR Chargers, 2 AK-47 rifles, 1 Type-06, 4 locally fabricated guns, 1 Berretta pistol, 2 Makarov pistols, and 4 locally fabricated pump action guns. Additionally, 504 pieces of AK-47 ammunition and 100 pieces of AA ammunition were seized.

One notable success involved intercepting a group supplying arms and ammunition to bandits in Niger, Zamfara, and Kaduna States along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.

In a recent encounter on January 26, 2024, IGP-SIS engaged armed bandits in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing 3, including the gang leader, Mai-Gemu (aka Gadoro), effectively dismantling the gang and its camp.

On January 21, 2024, IGP-SIS operatives arrested two major gun-running kingpins supplying locally fabricated arms to assailants in the North-Central region.

Additionally, two kidnappers were apprehended in the Jikwoyi area of the FCT, leading to the recovery of arms and ammunition and the safe rescue of a kidnapped victim.

Emphasizing the success of the SIS, the Inspector-General of Police announced plans to extend its launch to other states nationwide. Tactical deployment of SIS operatives will continue in areas within the FCT facing security challenges to combat various forms of criminality.
