Former Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is scheduled to be laid to rest on February 23, 2024. The funeral timetable was released by the late Akeredolu’s family on Monday evening, outlining various events leading up to the burial.
The funeral service is set to take place at St Andrew’s Anglican Church Cathedral, Imola Street, Owo, starting at 10 am on February 23, 2024. The interment will follow immediately at the burial site in Owo, strictly for the immediate family.
Akeredolu, who passed away on December 27, 2023, after battling illness, is being remembered with a series of ceremonies. The family expresses gratitude for the outpouring of love and support received during this challenging time.
The funeral events include a Winning Soul Crusade at MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, on February 15, 2024, and a Jumat Service at Akure Central Mosque on February 16, 2024.
Tributes will be paid at Loyola College Hall in Ibadan on February 17, 2024, and at OAU Secretariat, Ibadan, on February 18, 2024.
Special Court Sessions, NBA Tribute Sessions, Service of Songs, and Night of Tributes are scheduled in Ibadan on February 19, 2024.
The program continues with a Commendation Service at All Saints Anglican Church, Jericho, Ibadan, on February 20, 2024, followed by traditional rites in Owo and various sessions in Ondo State.
The climax of the funeral events is on February 23, 2024, with the Funeral Service at St Andrew’s Anglican Church Cathedral, Imola Street, Owo, at 10 am. Interment follows immediately at the burial site in Owo, strictly for the immediate family. A reception will take place at Mydas Hotel and Resort, Ikare Road, Owo, at 1 pm.
The commemoration extends to February 24, 2024, with the Akeredolu Memorial Friendly football match at Akure Township Stadium, Akure, at 3 pm.
The Thanksgiving Service is set for February 25, 2024, at St Andrew’s Anglican Church Cathedral, Imola Street, Owo, at 10 am.
