The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, disclosed a delay in Mohbad’s autopsy due to a pending toxicology report from specialists abroad, particularly the US.
This revelation came during a briefing at the state command Headquarters in the Ikeja Local Government Area.
Adegoke explained that the command was awaiting information from specialists abroad, as the toxicology result was not ready.
He cited the destruction of the laboratory built by the Lagos State Government during End SARS as the reason for seeking assistance from the US for toxicology analysis.
Last year, the Lagos State Police Command stated that the autopsy report, conducted two months ago, had not been provided to them. The passing of Mohbad on September 12 stirred up debates and discussions nationwide.
Following his demise, there was a growing demand among Nigerians for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.
The Nigeria Police Force initiated an official investigation, leading to the exhumation of Mohbad’s body for a thorough autopsy.
The police confirmed an incident involving Mohbad and his childhood friend, Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as PrimeBoy. Mohbad lost his life due to injuries sustained during the altercation.
The then-Lagos Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, identified an auxiliary nurse, Ms Feyisayo Ogedengbe, as the prime suspect in Mohbad’s death.
Ogedengbe, invited to inject the singer at his residence, administered three injections believed to have led to the chain of reactions resulting in Mohbad’s death.
The delay in obtaining toxicology results contributes to ongoing discussions surrounding the circumstances of the young artist’s passing.
