Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, officially acknowledges the receipt of Governor Akeredolu’s medical leave letter, signaling the commencement of constitutional procedures for Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to assume the role of acting governor.
In a statement, Speaker Oladiji shares the key details of the process, emphasizing the adherence to Section 190 of the Constitution.
He assures the Assembly members that there won’t be an immediate sitting on the matter, indicating that a comprehensive press statement will be released after the completion of the necessary procedures.
Under the provisions of Section 190, Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is set to take on the responsibilities of the Governor in an acting capacity until a written declaration indicates otherwise. The medical leave, prompted by doctors’ advice, is scheduled to commence on December 13, 2023.
