The second module of the ADEOLU AKANDE FOUNDATION INTEREST-FREE LOAN to farmers, traders and artisans etc, was yesterday, flagged off at Otu the headquarters of Itesiwaju Local Government with a fervent plea from Hon. Yekeen Popoola- former ALGON Chairman in Oyo State to the beneficiaries to pay back as at when due so that the facility can spread to other LGS in the state.
He recalled that when Prof Adeolu Akande announced the empowerment programme last year December, he queried as to why it should be for only Itesiwaju, for which he got a satisfactory response from the Promoter, Adeolu Akande, Esq. , immediate past Chairman, Board of Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), that Itesiwaju was just being used as a pilot case to fully evolve the modalities of the loan administration before moving to other local government areas around Oyo State.
“So it now behoves on you, the beneficiaries to allow this great vision spread beyond Itesiwaju ” he admonished.
Speaking earlier, the former Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government, Hon Adisa Adeniji, who is also the Administrator of the Scheme, re-emphasised the essence of the facility is to keep assisting our people who find themselves at the lower rung of the economic ladder and fuel, reinforce their navigation through the economic turbulence in respect of which the current Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing everything to calm down.
He said the first phase witnessed presentation of twenty thousand naira cash to fifty beneficiaries, with five drawn from each of the ten wards in the Local Government Area; while the second batch of one hundred beneficiaries for the same amount, ten from each of the ten wards, whose forms were officially presented to him – Hon. Adeniji, by the APC Party Chairman in the Local Government, Sikirullahi Awoleye (Osu), should start receiving alerts latest by Tuesday next week, he promised.
He declared further that cash transaction on such a scale is becoming unfashionable, as such monies will move to their individual accounts with the Administrator financial institution electronically.
The event was witnessed by APC Party Leadership from the local government, amongst whom are; (Baale Agbe)- Chief Sakariyau , ex-Chairmen: Hons Niyi Adeagbo -Itesiwaju, Samuel Okunlade Ododo and Salawu, of Orelope and Saki-East LGs respectively, Alhaja Hajara Taofeek, Yinka Adepoju Alaska – (Itesiwaju), Alh. Kazeem Akinbile from Ibadan as well as Hon. Dejo Adebisi-( Itesiwaju).
