Acknowledging existing 5G presence in specific locations, the minister highlighted the necessity of comprehensive infrastructure for a seamless experience.

Tijani stated that the government aims to invest $1.5 billion to $2 billion in expanding the current 35 to 40 kilometers of fiber optics cables to an extensive 95,000 kilometers.

Expressing optimism about achieving this goal during the first four years of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Tijani emphasized the intention to connect essential institutions like schools, hospitals, and government offices.

He emphasized the transformative impact on public service delivery once such connectivity is established.

Additionally, Tijani emphasized efforts to declare telecoms infrastructure as critical national assets to prevent vandalism. The minister’s vision encompasses leveraging technology to enhance various sectors and elevate the overall connectivity landscape in Nigeria.
