The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reassured Nigerians that the N27.5 trillion 2024 budget, presented by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly, will mark the beginning of a transformative era once approved by federal lawmakers.
Idris made this assurance during the 2023 annual public lecture of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Kaduna State on Saturday.
He emphasized that the proposed budget aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on national development objectives and fiscal responsibility.
The minister highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to economic stability, expressing optimism that the budget’s passage would bring tangible improvements to the lives of Nigerians.
He noted that the budget signifies a pivotal step towards realizing the Renewed Hope Agenda by aligning fiscal strategies and priorities with broader national development objectives.
Idris stated, “In addition to its focus on development priorities, the budget demonstrates a commitment to fiscal responsibility.”
He pointed out that before presenting the budget, President Tinubu had assented to a Supplementary Budget, signed landmark Bills and Executive Orders into law, and inaugurated special presidential initiatives on fiscal policy reform, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Food Security, MSME Support, and other critical areas of the economy.
Idris called on Nigerians to acknowledge that, despite inheriting challenges, the present administration has confronted them head-on.
He emphasized that the goal has been to deliver relief to the Nigerian people and lay the groundwork for true and lasting prosperity.
