**Governor Makinde to Present Staff of Office to Soun of Ogbomosoland Amid Legal Developments**
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is set to officially present the staff of office to Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, on December 16.
This follows a state High Court’s stay of execution on the October 25 judgment that ordered the monarch’s removal.
The ruling, favoring a prince, Kabir Olaoye, cited irregularities in Oba Ghandi’s ascension. Despite the legal challenges, preparations for the staff of office presentation are underway, with a week-long program scheduled to commence on December 10 in Ogbomosoland.
The state government announced Oba Ghandi’s appointment, a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, on September 8, 2023.
This appointment came two years after Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III passed away in December 2021, having reigned for 48 years.
While an informed palace source revealed that Governor Makinde is prepared to present the staff of office, it’s noted that Oba Ghandi is currently out of the country.
The palace is undergoing renovations, and the monarch is expected to return soon. The staff of office presentation is part of a week-long program, concluding with a thanksgiving service on December 17.
