In a recent development, a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The bail, set at N300 million with two sureties in similar sums, requires the sureties to possess Certificates of Occupancy and property titles in the Maitama District.
Justice Hamza Muazu, presiding over the case, ordered Emefiele to deposit his travel documents with the court registrar and stay within the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
Emefiele will be held at the Kuje Correctional Centre until he fulfills the bail conditions.
The ex-CBN governor is facing trial for alleged procurement fraud, initially charged with 20 counts amounting to N6.5 billion, later reduced to six charges totaling N1.2 billion. The trial is scheduled to commence on November 28.
