Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba, testified in a coroner inquest about the circumstances leading to the singer’s death, including past incidents of bullying, psychological trauma, and an arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

She revealed that Mohbad passed away in his room on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in the afternoon. Before his death, he had requested the air conditioner in his room to be turned on, but when it didn’t work, he was rushed to their son’s room.

Omowunmi, who was in the kitchen during these events, recounted seeing a nurse injecting Mohbad and hearing him ask to remove the syringe.

Subsequently, they rushed him to the hospital when it became necessary.

She explained that during the car ride to the hospital, Mohbad’s hands became cold, and upon reaching the hospital, the medical team informed her of his death.

Omowunmi expressed disbelief, as she had spoken to him just 20 minutes before, planning a photo shoot for their son.

The widow detailed the events leading up to Mohbad’s death, mentioning a show they attended the day before, where Mohbad complained of tiredness after performing.

An argument ensued in the car between Mohbad and his younger brother, Prime Boy, following which a fight broke out.

Omowunmi clarified that the fight resulted in a minor injury to Mohbad’s elbow when he hit the car window. She highlighted Mohbad’s reluctance to go to the hospital after a previous incident with NDLEA on February 22, 2022, where he was physically assaulted, leading to fear and memory loss.

Following the NDLEA incident, Mohbad faced paranoia, memory loss, and depression, according to Omowunmi.

She further disclosed that she was unaware of Mohbad’s burial details and claimed to have received threats, leading her to wear a face mask when going out.

Amidst the revelations, Omowunmi shared Mohbad’s wish to send their son to Canada and the challenges they faced due to financial constraints.

The inquest sheds light on the complex circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s mental health and family struggles.
