Soun of Ogbomosoland Contender Urges Fair Process Amid High Court Decision
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Prince Gbolahan Idowu Oyegoke, a leading contender for the Soun of Ogbomosoland throne, has urged the Oyo State Government, Ogbomoso kingmakers, and Laoye Ruling House to ensure fairness in the selection process.

He expressed his appreciation for the Oyo State High Court’s decision to nullify the appointment of Ghandi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomoso and called for a transparent nomination process.

Oyegoke emphasized the need for equity and justice, urging the Laoye Ruling House to activate the 11-man Screening Committee Report to nominate a single candidate. He stressed the significance of complying with the Soun of Ogbomosoland Chieftaincy Declaration of 1958 to avoid violations noted by the High Court.

Oyegoke highlighted the potential consequences of deviating from this proposed procedure, stating that any other arrangements might lead to fresh and multiple litigations.

In his plea, Oyegoke called upon members of the Laoye Orumogege Ruling House, other Soun of Ogbomosoland Ruling Houses, The Ilus, and the Ogbomoso community at large to support a process that prioritizes justice, equity, and fair-play in selecting the rightful candidate for the Soun of Ogbomosoland throne.

The contestant, with a direct lineage to the Late Soun of Ogbomosoland, hopes for an end to litigations and a harmonious resolution to this crucial matter.
