The Sarki Sasa of the Hausawa community in Oyo State, Haruna Maiyasin, is facing suspension for alleged insubordination and disrespect towards the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The decision was reached during a Hausawa community meeting chaired by the Seriki Hausawa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Ali Zungeru.
Maiyasin is accused of unlawfully conferring chieftaincy titles without consulting the Sarki Hausawa of Ibadanland.
The Olubadan had earlier emphasized that only the Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland holds recognition as the head of the Hausa community.
The suspension decision was announced by Zungeru after the meeting, expressing concerns that Maiyasin’s actions could lead to a crisis in the area.
He highlighted the historical context of Maiyasin’s appointment and stressed the importance of maintaining peace and justice within the Hausa community.
Zungeru clarified that Maiyasin, as an appointee, lacks the authority to remove others from office, citing an alleged plan to oust the Seriki Hausawa in Akinyele, Ado Sule, and the Chairman of the Trailer, Yaro Abubakar.
The suspension remains in effect pending the decision of the entire Arewa Community Council in Ibadan. Stay tuned for further developments on this matter.
