Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian musician Mohbad, has elaborated on the reasons behind his insistence on a DNA test for his deceased child’s son, Liam. Aloba emphasized the need to address controversies regarding paternity and related issues between Mohbad and his wife.
In an interview with Stams TV on Wednesday, the late singer’s father highlighted the importance of the DNA test to clear heated debates among Nigerians.
He discredited rumors about the DNA test, especially those propagated by popular skit maker OGBCultist, believed to be Mohbad’s friend. Aloba proposed conducting the test at two different hospitals for enhanced accuracy.
Aloba expressed his willingness to provide consent for the DNA test or appoint a representative if he couldn’t be present. He stressed the significance of obtaining accurate results to put an end to speculations.
The late singer’s father also delved into the cultural perspective in Ikere Ekiti, stating that bastards are not accepted in their community. However, he conveyed that it would bring him joy if Liam is indeed Mohbad’s child, as Mohbad had allegedly left the child for him.
Additionally, Aloba discussed the urgency of police concluding their investigation process to facilitate the burial rites for his late child. He acknowledged reports of people claiming to have seen Mohbad’s ghost, attributing it to the delay in the burial.
MohBad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, sparking nationwide controversies and protests. His former label boss, Naira Marley, and associate Sam Larry were named among the five prime suspects in the ensuing investigations.
