The retail management of the NNPC addressed the recent fuel queues in a statement on Thursday. They explained that the queues were a result of reduced Depot loadout in Apapa, Lagos, over a few days.

However, the statement assured Nigerians that the root cause of the queues has been addressed and emphasized that there is ample supply with sufficiency of at least 30 days.

The NNPC further advised motorists to refrain from panic buying, assuring that distribution would normalize over the next couple of days.

Despite the temporary inconvenience, the statement aimed to convey the message that there is no need for widespread concern regarding fuel availability.

This incident recalls the fuel scarcity in May when President Bola Tinubu announced the end of the fuel subsidy during his inauguration.

This announcement led to a surge in petrol prices and scarcity of petroleum products, resulting in long queues at petrol stations across the country.

The NNPC seeks to differentiate the current situation, emphasizing that it has been promptly addressed, and the supply chain is expected to stabilize in the near future.
