The Kano State Police Command has converted over 50 repentant thugs into police special constabulary after completing training. The Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, addressed them at Sani Abacha Stadium, highlighting their commitment to peace.
The repentant thugs, drawn from various LGAs, underwent two months of training to contribute to state security. Gumel commended officers for their efforts in crime fighting and urged continued community policing engagement.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf praised the non-kinetic approach to reduce crime, pledging to empower them through skills acquisition programs. “Kano is setting the pace as the first state in the federation to use a non-kinetic approach in bringing down the wave of crime.
This is indeed a plus to our administration’s resolve to build a new Kano, where crime will give way to development, peace and order, and economic prosperity,” he said.
