Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has expressed his belief that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State is not involved in the move by the state House of Assembly to impeach Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The assembly has leveled various allegations against the deputy governor as part of the impeachment process. Aiyedatiwa had served as acting governor until September 7, 2023, when Governor Akeredolu returned from a three-month medical leave.
Adegboruwa defended the governor, stating that he is a man of transparency and accountability, and likely not involved in the political tension surrounding the impeachment move.
The House Committee on Information reiterated that they are not witch-hunting the deputy governor but are investigating allegations of misconduct, inviting him to defend himself within seven days.
