WHAT ALUTA CANNOT DO! By Bola Olalere.
As a student, I joined several protests on this colonial bridge that connects OkeOgun, through Oyo town, with the rest of oyo state and beyond.
There was even a time we threatened to blow off the bridge. That was when we lost five students of St. Andrew College of Education (Now Emmanuel Alayande College of Education) on the bridge.
After each protest, we would returned to our campuses expecting response from the authority, but none came.
Driving on the road on December 25th, 2021 and seeing the ambitious work on- going, particularly at the site of the evil bridge that had claimed several lives, I said a word of prayer for the Governor and his administration.
And so, what decades of Aluta can not do, the Seyi Makinde administration did it for us without protest.
…and today, the Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, will be accompanied by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to commission the reconstructed Oyo/Iseyin road which housed the notorious colonial Odo Ogun Bridge.
To the benefit of mankind and to the glory of Olodumare.
Thereafter, the Governor will lead his guest to Iseyin/ Okeho road where he will also commission what could be described as the best start -up Satellite campus in Nigeria, the Iseyin campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.
I bet, we have never had it this good in OkeOgun
