The Ondo State APC Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, dismissed concerns that the dismissal of the deputy governor’s media aide would harm the party’s prospects in the 2024 governorship election. He emphasized that the sackings were Governor Akeredolu’s prerogative and not a party matter.
In response, the state PDP urged Governor Akeredolu to return to Ondo State and focus on governance rather than addressing internal matters from Ibadan, emphasizing that this move reflects discord within the APC ahead of the upcoming election.
The affected media aides were removed due to alleged insubordination and disloyalty during Governor Akeredolu’s overseas medical vacation, according to the statement. The Ministry of Information and Orientation will now cover the deputy governor’s office activities.
