Akure-Ado Ekiti Expressway to Get Concrete Makeover – Minister David Umahi
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced a significant shift in the Akure-Ado Ekiti Expressway project. Instead of asphalt, the road will be constructed with durable concrete. Umahi highlighted the extended lifespan of concrete roads compared to bitumen-based ones, citing a 50-year lifespan for concrete versus 15 years for asphalt.

During his visit to acting Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Umahi stressed the benefits of concrete technology in road construction. He also revealed that any ongoing road project with less than 20% completion would be redesigned for concrete pavement. This shift aims to reduce reliance on bitumen imports and promote local content.
