The Osun State Government, in partnership with the Ministry of Special Duties and Regional Integration, is set to initiate the distribution of subsidised rice palliatives to residents. According to the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, the distribution process has been finalized by the palliative committee and will commence on Tuesday.
Beneficiaries will receive the rice palliatives as per a pre-established timetable, ensuring a systematic and inclusive approach. The distribution is scheduled to start immediately following a meeting of the palliative committee.
In detail, the release states, “The total number of the subsidised rice palliatives that will be distributed tomorrow is 5,700: three thousand 50kg from the first batch of palliatives, and two thousand seven hundred 50kg bags of rice from the 14,000-second batch.”
Moreover, the Osun State Government has received a sum of two billion naira out of the designated five billion naira palliative fund allocated by the Federal Government. The specific payment procedures and protocols will be outlined by the palliative committee during their forthcoming meeting.
The statement further recalls, “It can be recalled that the state received 3,000 50kg bags of rice from the federal government, and it will be shared with 2,700 50kg bags of rice from the second batch approved. 14,000 bags starting tomorrow while the state is still expecting 11,300 50kg bags of rice and 3,000 metric tonnes of maize.”
In light of the upcoming distribution of the rice palliatives, the government urges citizens to maintain orderliness. The commitment of the government is to ensure that the federal government’s palliatives reach their intended recipients across the state in a fair and efficient manner.
