Oyo State’s Governor, Seyi Makinde, has proclaimed that August 20 will now be celebrated as Isese Day, a step aimed at honoring cultural diversity and recognizing religious practices. Moreover, the ensuing Monday, which falls on August 21, is set to be observed as a holiday for the state’s workers. This announcement, communicated by the Secretary to the State Government, Olanike Adeyemo, has garnered a positive response from representatives of the Heads of Traditional Religion Worshippers Association.

Mogaji Fakayode Fatunde, Chief Ifalere Odegbola, and Baale Omikunmi Egbelade of the Aare Isese Foundation, collectively expressed appreciation for Governor Makinde’s commitment to fostering equality among different religious denominations within the state. They commended his dedication to keeping his promises and acknowledged this significant stride towards recognizing and respecting the diverse religious landscape within the state.
