An influential political group comprising former Oyo Local Government Chairmen – “KOSELERI 2015” has described the immediate past Chairman, Board of Commissioners of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Adeolu Akande, Esq, as the most benevolent federal appointee from Oyo State who, more than anyone else, has facilitated ICT\Digital Skills enhancing infrastructure, equipment and training, towards ensuring solid future for the teeming adults and youths in the state and the entire country.
Hon. Wasiu Kunle Olatunbosun (Ejo), protem Secretary of the group in a statement said, the group, being grassroots-based has watched closely the activities of the amiable Professor since his assumption of duty as Chairman, Board of Commissioners of NCC, and felt convinced that “he has served the country, Oyo State, and his constituent in a way that no one from this our corner of the country has ever done”.
His legendary records of achievement which may remain unbeaten for a long time to come include, but not limited to the construction of ICT hub in Ibadan worth 1 billion naira, and also in selected secondary schools across the state, the Polytechnic campuses in Ibadan and Saki, LAUTECH, both main campus and the satellite campus at Iseyin, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education Oyo, College of Agric and Technology, Igbo-Ora, regular ICT/digital empowerment training for teeming youths and adults with free laptops and token financial support, while also assisting several qualified youths and adults secure job placements in federal establishments.
It’s also on record that he facilitated medical equipment support to the University College Hospital, Ibadan (UCH), and others, as well as numerous philanthropic gestures to several community- based, trade associations/bodies, the needy, the widows and the less privileged. “Infact to say that he served with compassion, empathy, kindness, large-heartedness, displaying always, tremendous tenderness towards all is an understatement”. “It is our prayer that God will consider all these his good works in iluminating his path towards accomplishing his future ambitions” the statement added.
Recall that through a Presidential directive, some boards of Federal Agencies, Corporations and Parastatals were dissolved earlier in the week, along with the board of NCC, on which Prof. Adeolu Akande used to sit as the Chairman, Board of Commissioners.
