West Midlands University, Ibadan, owned by Adébáyọ̀ Akande, proprietor of the first private radio station in Oyo State, has been licensed by the federal government.
It was licensed alongside 36 other universities.
The institution, the first privately-owned open varsity, after the FG-owned National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, is located in Ibadan, but currently operates from Lagos.
