Chieftain of All Progressive Congress and a gubernatorial hopeful in Oyo state, Barrister Akeem Adedeji Agbaje has described himself as an “unusual politician” because, according to him, he believes personately in aligning infrastructural projects to the needs of the common people, as against some politicians who usually embark on projects that are largely not in tandem with people’s needs.
He disclosed this at an informal indoor consultative meeting with a religious group in Ibadan on Monday while intimating them of his ambition to be the next governor of the state, he declared that his ambition is driven by “passion for people -friendly development”. He emphasized that his developmental agenda will not concentrate on urban centers alone, but will cover every nook and cranny of Oyo state.
He identified provision of cheaper power, a sector in which, even as a legal practitioner, he’s deeply involved, with foreign partners, as the key driver of all economic activities, lack of which has driven our numerous skilled youths away from their technical callings to embark on okada riding, and in some extreme, regretable cases, crime, made worse by politicians distributing some power-operated gadgets without considering the very basic element of cheap power.
Responding to a question on why he’s sounding so confident with this his third attempt, he reiterated his confidence in the leadership of the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) at both the state and national levels providing level playing field for all Aspirants, based on fairness, equity and justice, adding that, as a believer, he’s further fortified by God’s support, and therefore confident that God will do it, the way God did it for our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu .
“Since this is just one in the series of our direct bonding with opinion leaders, let me conclude with all modesty that,
as a son of a noble family in Ibadan, “omo Agbaje Salami layeye” , the virtue of Omoluabi laced with the fear of God runs in the family, i also have the gene in me, we are promise keepers”, he revealed.
