President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Joseph Olasunkanmi TEGBE as the Director General of the China-Nigeria Strategic Partnership and Global Laison -an agreement which was reached by the two countries during President Tinubu’s visit earlier this September month.
The agreement which comes on the heels of 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), involved some 360 billion yuan -(about 51 billion dollars) to finance projects in African nations in the next three years, “support for 30 infrastructure projects to boost connectivity across the continent and create one million jobs “.
According to a State House Press Statement released on Sunday, Chief TEGBE, a 1988 first class graduate in civil engineering form Obafemi Awolowo University, is expected to provide leadership in the running of the partnership – submit to the President a strategic action plan to ensure maximum benefits from the agreement for Nigeria and Nigerians, by engaging continuously with the Chinese counterparts such that “all deliverables are met and synchronized with national development goals”.
TEGBE, who is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria is expected to report directly to Mr President.
