President Bola Tinubu has delegated Vice President Kashim Shettima to represent Nigeria at the 2024 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
This marks Shettima’s seventh foreign assignment in his seven months in office, having previously represented Nigeria in Italy, Russia, South Africa, Cuba, China, and the US, accumulating 36 days abroad.
Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communications, made the announcement in a statement.
Shettima will join political and business leaders worldwide to discuss global socio-economic and development issues during the week-long Forum.
The Vice President’s agenda includes the launch of the Private Sector Action Plan for the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Shettima is set to co-chair a special session and engage in high-level discussions with notable figures such as IFC Managing Director Makhtar Diop and Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Additionally, Shettima will chair a roundtable dialogue on Nigeria’s economic path during the Forum. He will participate in a special session dedicated to building trust in the global energy transition program.
Following his involvement in the week-long event, the Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria.
