The Oyo State Government has announced an extension to the deadline for the payment of 2024 Hajj, moving it to January 31st, 2024. This decision aims to accommodate all intending pilgrims and ensure their participation in the forthcoming spiritual Hajj exercise.
Sheikh Hashim AbdulWahab Olamide Atere, Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare’s Board (Muslim Wing), expressed that this extension offers another opportunity for those who couldn’t complete payments before the initial December 31st deadline. He encourages timely completion and notes that payments can be made in installments.
Sheikh Hashim emphasizes that intending pilgrims can still make payments through designated bank accounts, either directly at the banks or through bank apps.
Afterward, they should bring their tellers or print-out receipts for government receipts. For further inquiries, pilgrims are urged to visit the Board’s Olodo office or its annex within the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) premises in Ibadan.
The extension aligns with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s recent announcement, accommodating those who may not have been able to afford full payments by the original deadline.
The National Hajj Commission had initially set an initial deposit of Four Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (#4.5M) and a December 31st deadline for all intending pilgrims nationwide.
However, the Commission, through a statement on its official website on January 2, extended the deadline to January 31st, considering the collective efforts of State Hajj Commissions to determine the total amount for this year’s Hajj.
