The First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, represented by the Deputy Governor’s wife, Mrs. Ajibola Lawal, visited hospitals in the state capital on Monday. Her purpose was to present gifts, cash, and other items to mothers of babies born on Christmas Day.
Expressing joy with the families of the newborns, Mrs. Makinde noted the coincidence with Governor Seyi Makinde’s birthday.
The hospitals visited included Adeoyo Specialist Hospital, Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Jericho Nursing Home (Maternal and Paediatric Centre), and Ola Catholic Hospital, Oluyoro.
The first baby was born at 12:33 am at Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Yemetu.
The second baby arrived at 4:30 am at Adeoyo Specialist Hospital, Ring Road, while the third baby was born at 5:28 am at Jericho Nursing Home. Hampers and cash gifts were presented to these three babies, along with cash gifts for other newborns in the wards. At OLA Catholic Hospital, Oluyoro, children were given snacks and cash gifts.
While presenting the gifts and cash, Mrs. Makinde urged mothers to take good care of their babies, emphasizing that children are special gifts from God. She stressed the importance of proper upbringing to address anomalies in society.
Mrs. Makinde also called on parents to maintain good hygiene and encouraged residents to show love, highlighting the Governor and his wife’s kind-heartedness, which motivated the gesture.
Speaking with the media, the mothers expressed gratitude for the kind gesture, stating that the gifts and cash would go a long way in alleviating some of their burdens.
Commissioners for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi; Special Duties, Alhaja Faosat Sanni, and Permanent Secretaries of Ministries accompanied Mrs. Makinde on the visit.
