As the world observes International Literacy Day, the Oyo State government encourages adult learners to enhance their reading and writing skills for meaningful contributions in the state.
The Chairman of Oyo State Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education (AANFE), Mr. Ayo Olopoenia, emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating illiteracy, allocating over 20.88% of the 2024 budget to the education sector.
Olopoenia urged adult learners to take their studies seriously, highlighting the enduring importance of literacy as a fundamental human right.
The event included a graduation ceremony for approximately 2010 adult learners. Notable individuals, government officials, and education stakeholders graced the occasion, demonstrating the collective effort to combat illiteracy.
