The Oyo State Government initiated efforts on Wednesday to resolve a longstanding boundary dispute between Oorelope and Saki-East Local Government Areas.
The peace meeting, convened by the state government, took place at the Western Hall, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, also the Chairman of the Boundary Commission, commended the communities for their restraint and emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing bloodshed. The boundary issue, dating back to 1960, is set to undergo demarcation.
Lawal assured the communities of the government’s support and urged patience for a lasting solution without resorting to legal disputes.
The State Police Command, represented by Superintendent of Police Olaolu Adedokun, affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and commended traditional leaders for their role in maintaining order among the youth.
