Oyo State Government has given the green light for the construction of two Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) unit commands to enhance road safety efforts.
Professor Dahud Kehinde Sangodoyin, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, made the announcement during a meeting with the FRSC management team.
The new commands will be situated along the completed Ibadan Circular Road, with an additional station signed by Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde at Moniya.
Sangodoyin emphasized the state’s commitment to reducing accidents by addressing factors like bad roads, incompetent driving, and unworthy vehicles.
The government aims to improve the transportation system by constructing roads connecting all zones in the state.
Speaking on road safety measures, the FRSC Staff College Commandant, Assistant Corp Marshall Benjamin Nkwonta, highlighted ongoing sensitization efforts in various sectors.
He urged the public to report any officer wrongdoing, emphasizing the importance of utilizing FRSC’s services, including the Computerized Vehicle Inspection Center for free vehicle checks.
