The Oyo State House of Assembly has called for urgent action, requesting the state government to deploy Operation Burst to Odo-Oba, the boundary between Oyo and Osun states. This move aims to prevent disturbances in Ogburo land by individuals besieging Iwo land.

The motion, titled “Need For Urgent Intervention to Address Boundary Disputes,” was jointly sponsored by Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin and others.

The Assembly expressed its concern about the prevalent land disputes leading to clashes involving Ogburo, Iwo people, Aborerin, and Egba people across Oyo, Osun, and Ogun states. Notably, Ogburoland has faced encroachment by land grabbers from Iwo, resulting in terrorizing the people and dispossessing them of their historical lands.

The motion highlighted the forced exile of the appointed Ologburo of Ogburoland, Oba Olajide Oyedepo Oyebamiji, due to threats on his life.

This situation is deemed an affront to the dignity of the Ogburo people and a challenge to the authority of the Oyo State Government.

In a related development, the House directed its Standing Committee on Security and Strategy to investigate banditry attacks on Kujifi, Kosobo, and Ajirowo villages, along with hamlets near Old Oyo National Park Area of Sepeteri in Oyo State.

This directive followed a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by Hon. Rilwan Saminu and Hon. Lukman Jimoh, representing Atisbo/Saki East and Oorelope State constituencies, respectively.

Hon. Saminu detailed recent attacks by unknown gunmen, labeling them as evil and callous, leading to the death of innocent persons and injuries.

The affected villagers abandoned their homes due to fear of being kidnapped or killed by these criminals.

The Assembly urged the Executive Arm of Government, through the Oyo State Security Network “Amotekun,” to mobilize security agents to Sepeteri and its environs for enhanced security.

The resolution also called for collaboration between the State Commissioner of Police, Amotekun, and local hunters to identify and arrest the gunmen terrorizing the communities.
