In keeping with Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s commitment to streamline governance responsibilities, specific Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are now entrusted to the supervision of the state’s Deputy Governor, Barr Bayo Lawal.
This decision, effective after discussions at the State’s Treasury Board Meeting held on Wednesday, signifies a strategic realignment of administrative functions.
The Ministries of Culture and Tourism, Establishments and Training, along with Special Duties, are now under the purview of the Office of the Deputy Governor.
The move reflects the governor’s intent to optimize leadership structures for increased efficiency.
Deputy Governor Barr Bayo Lawal is tasked with overseeing the Ministry of Establishments and Training, focusing on enhancing the structure of gratuity payments.
This demonstrates a proactive approach to addressing crucial administrative aspects, contributing to a more streamlined and effective public service.
Furthermore, Barr Lawal will provide guidance to the newly-established Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This ministry, recently separated from the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, aligns with Governor Makinde’s vision of leveraging tourism to expand the state’s economy.
The strategic leadership of Barr Lawal is expected to drive initiatives in line with this economic expansion agenda.
Notably, Barr Bayo Lawal, before assuming the role of Deputy Governor and running mate to the governor, served as the chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation.
In an effort to leverage his wealth of experience, he will continue overseeing the Oyo State Housing Corporation, ensuring continuity and effective management.
These significant changes in administrative oversight were officially communicated by Chief Press Secretary Sulaimon Olanrewaju on November 22, 2023.
The realignment aims to enhance governance structures, foster economic growth through tourism, and optimize administrative processes within key government entities.
