The Federal Capital Territory High Court has instructed the remand of former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, at Kuje Correctional Centre.
This follows allegations of procurement fraud, with the trial finally proceeding after three delays.
Initially facing 20 charges totaling N6.5 billion, the Federal Government reduced it to six charges amounting to over N1 billion.
During Friday’s hearing, Emefiele’s bail plea faced opposition from the FG, leading to the judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, deferring the decision for further consideration.
The trial resumes on November 22 for the bail ruling and November 28 for the commencement of proceedings. This comes after a previous release order on November 8, following 151 days in detention.
