In a readout of the discussions, the leaders reiterated their support for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism.

They also emphasized the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law, particularly in protecting civilians.

The leaders addressed the situation of their citizens trapped in the Israel-Hamas conflict, with a focus on those wishing to leave Gaza.

Meanwhile, fighting continued unabated, with scores more casualties reported in Israeli air strikes on Gaza.

The humanitarian situation in the enclave worsened, prompting the arrival of another convoy of 17 aid trucks.

The leaders expressed commitment to coordinating efforts to ensure sustained and safe access to essential resources like food, water, and medical care.

The readout highlighted the leaders’ pledge for close diplomatic coordination to prevent the conflict from spreading, maintain stability in the Middle East, and work towards a political solution and durable peace.

The call involved not only President Biden but also Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President Emmanuel Macron of France, Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as stated by the White House.
