Moscow’s emergency situations ministry shared on Thursday that Russia has dispatched 27 tonnes of humanitarian aid for civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Deputy Minister Ilya Denisov conveyed this information in a statement, mentioning that a special plane departed from the Ramenskoye airport near Moscow, bound for El-Arish in Egypt.
The Russian humanitarian aid, consisting of wheat, sugar, rice, and pasta, will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent for transportation to the Gaza Strip.
This initiative aligns with global efforts to address the urgent humanitarian situation in Gaza, where one million people have fled their homes amid intense Israeli air strikes.
In a parallel development, US President Joe Biden unveiled a deal facilitating the entry of desperately-needed humanitarian aid into Gaza.
As part of this arrangement, a limited number of trucks will be allowed to cross the Rafah crossing from Egypt into Gaza starting Friday, following diplomatic discussions with Israel and Egypt.
