The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, expressed unwavering confidence in the judgment of the Ogun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal. He conveyed that he was always confident that the tribunal would uphold his emergence as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.
Abiodun’s confidence was validated by the Saturday judgment of the tribunal, which affirmed his victory and dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ladi Adebutu, challenging the outcome of the poll.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Lekan Adeniran, Abiodun emphasized, “We were never in doubt that our hard-earned victory would be affirmed as we placed our trust in God, having worked the hardest campaigning in every nook and cranny of Ogun State. We won fair and square, we earned it and deserved it.”
Despite the victory, Abiodun extended an olive branch to the opposition, calling on them to drop animosity and join him in the task of developing Ogun State.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Chief Yemi Sanusi, shared optimism that the victory would propel the governor to work more diligently in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
