Seasoned Technocrats, Busari, Omilabu To Join APC In Oyo

Mr. Lekan Busari, a seasoned Technocrat and a retired top notch Banker has expressed his intention to join the ruling party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress, APC on the 28th September, 2023.

In a letter sent to the Chairman of the APC in Oyo State, Mr. Lekan Busari notified the party echelons in the state through her State Chairman, Hon. Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu of his intention to declare and join the party at his Ward 5, Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Mr. Busari is joining the party along with his friend and brother , Mr. Afolabi Omilabu, formerly the Finance Director of the Lagos Building and Investment Corporation.

Both Messrs Lekan Busari and Afolabi Omilabu are also from the same Ward 5 of the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State where the Asiwaju of Ita-Ege and Idi-Aro, JCI Senator Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, SAN also hails from. JCI Senator Adebayo is a former Commissioner and Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State under the first term of Senator Abiola Ajimobi between August 2011 to May 28, 2015.

Born in 1970 and Educated at the University of Ibadan for B.Sc and M.Sc Agricultural Economics. MBA from University of Bangor, Whales UK. A banker of over 2 decades, Mr. Lekan Busari left Banking as a General Manager. Alumnus of IMD Laussane Switzerland, alumnus of Wharton Business School, Pennsylvania USA, alumnus of London Business School and he is happily married with children.

ABOUT AFOLABI OMILABU

Afolabi Omilabu has 30 years’ of experience in various aspects of the banking industry including Credit & Marketing, Audit & Control, as well as Finance, Operations and Enterprise Risk Management.

He started his career in the finance industry with Home Foundation Savings & Loans Limited in 1993 and his Banking career with the NAL Merchant Bank in 1997.  He worked with various other commercial banks and rose through ranks to become a Deputy General Manager in one of the reputable commercial banks from where retired from mainstream banking.

He is presently The Executive Director, Finance, Operations & Risk of Lagos Building Investment Company Plc, Lagos. Prior to joining the Board of LBIC Plc, Mr Omilabu was the Founding Managing Director/CEO of Headway Microfinance Bank Ltd Lagos.

In all the foregoing sojourn, he was critical to decision making, management of human resources, credit management as well as developing strategies to grow business. And he was responsible for the supervision and coordination of operations to achieve overall corporate goals and objectives whilst driving appropriate Enterprise Risk Management. He was awarded a series of awards for outstanding performances with various banks.

He is an alumnus of the University of Lagos, where he holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics and he is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He is happily married with children.
