Security has been tightened at the Roseline Omotosho Courthouse in Ikeja, where the Lagos State Election Petitions Tribunal is gearing up to deliver its judgment on petitions challenging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s election.

The petitions were filed by Abdulazeez Adediran (PDP governorship candidate) and Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (Labour Party candidate). Security personnel are closely monitoring access to the courthouse, screening journalists, lawyers, and others.

Adediran’s petition alleges that Governor Sanwo-Olu presented a forged West African School Certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and accused Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat of not including a required oath declaration in the INEC Nomination Form EC9. Additionally, he claims that the APC did not adhere to the Electoral Act during Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat’s nominations.

Rhodes-Vivour’s petition challenges Deputy Governor Hamzat’s eligibility, asserting that he renounced his Nigerian citizenship and pledged allegiance to the United States of America.
