Tinubu also met with Nigerians in the U.S., encouraging them to return home and expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future. In a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, he emphasized African nations’ determination to combat resource smuggling and highlighted concerns about the misuse of human rights in this context.

Furthermore, President Tinubu made history by ringing the bell at the National Association of Securities Dealers Automatic Quotation System in New York, becoming the first African head of government to do so.

The Nigerian delegation actively participated in various high-level events, focusing on topics like financing for development, pandemic preparedness, climate ambition, universal health coverage, and the fight against tuberculosis.

In addition, First Lady Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu attended economic and peace-related forums, emphasizing the importance of diaspora contributions and fostering hope among Nigerian youth.

The overarching theme of the General Assembly was rebuilding trust and promoting global solidarity to achieve the 2030 Agenda’s sustainable development goals.
