The Lagos State Government has initiated an operation to clear shanties and encroachments along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. A Special Intervention Team, composed of officials from various government ministries and agencies, began the clearing process, removal of makeshift shops, and eviction of squatters on Sunday.
Led by ACP Bayo Sulaiman, the Police Area Commander for Area F, Ikeja, the team started clearing illegal structures from the Iganmu end of the road. The operation is part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s efforts to enhance safety and urban development along the expressway, and it will continue until all illegal structures are removed.
Director of Operations at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Olasunkanmi Ojo-Owuro, emphasized that the operation would be sustained to restore order and clear encroachments along the entire Badagry Expressway, from Apapa-Iganmu to Igbo Elerin.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s special intervention team aims to improve the state of the corridor, remove shanties, and address infrastructure challenges.
