According to Lou Holtz, “The price of leadership is responsibility….and part of that responsibility is to stay positive whether you feel like it or not.”
Caleb and Joshua proved to be good examples in this regard. They stayed positive in the face of daunting challenges and potential threats to taking the promised land. To achieve your aspirations in life, you need the Caleb and Joshua type of mentality.
A good leader launches out before success is certain. He doesn’t sit down with folded hands waiting for the condition to be right. “He that observeth the wind shall not sow, and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap”.(Ecc.11:4).
A good leader neither runs from confrontation nor does he evade tough questions. He talks about his own mistakes before that of anybody and acknowledges them before others have time to discover and reveal them as part of his proactive nature.
Like every human being, leaders also have their moments of doubts, fears, and disappointments but they don’t allow it to overshadow their sense of reasoning and purpose. Every time God commissions leaders, He commissions them with two words, ” fear not”. This was how Moses and Joshua were commissioned. Moses started to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and handed over the baton to Joshua around Mount Nebo.
As leaders, we must learn how to manage our attitudes because it can be calamitous to underestimate its influence and those of our actions on both personal and corporate goals and those of other people around us.
