The Award which was part of the 17th convocation of the College , also witnessed commissioning of large-capacity lecture theatres donated to the college by some well-blessed members of the society; had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life, including the three distinguished Senators representing Oyo State at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly – Fatai Buhari, (Oyo North), Yunus Akintunde, (Oyo Central), Sarafadeen Alli,(Oyo South).

Professor Akande in his note of appreciation on behalf of the recipients acknowledged the positive contributions of the College to nation building in the area of “production of manpower” especially in the training of teachers and people with special needs, not for Nigeria alone but also for West Africa as a whole.

He described teachers as builders of great nations whose continuous training should not be downgraded, for nations to attain greatness.

While thanking the Governing council and the management of the institution for the honour accorded the recipients, Professor Akande, who earned the award for his facilitation of an ICT HUB for the College in his capacity then as the Chairman of NCC Board, assured that the award would propel them to do more for the society.

According to him, “life is about service. It is whatever we give back to the society that will outlive everyone of us”.

Other recipients of the award are; Alhaji Jimoh Abdulwasiu Adebisi, who donated to the college the 2000- seat capacity hall in which the convocation ceremony was held, amongst his other philanthropic gestures, Sir Olusegun Adeyemi Adekunle,OON, Dr (Mrs)Wasilla Shittu-Titilola and Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, all of who have, in one way or the other, contributed to the growth of the SPECIAL COLLEGE.
